WET MOPPING PROCEDURES

Wet mopping is a two bucket wet cleaning process used for the removal of heavy soil.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU WET MOP?
PROPER DILUTION OF CLEANER


  Equipment needed:   Chemicals needed:

    1.  Wet Mop and Handle
    2.  Bucket and Wringer
    3.  Wet Floor Signs

  Procedures:  

Wet Mopping Instructions
  1. Dust mop the floor using the dry cleaning procedures.
  2. Position wet floor signs.
  3. Always wear protective goggles and gloves when handling cleaning chemicals.
  4. Fill mop bucket with FLOOR CLEANER solution following directions on the product label. 
  5. Start with a clean mop. Place mop into cleaning solution. Wring the mop lightly, it should be wet, but not dripping.
  6. Apply the FLOOR CLEANER solution to the area to be cleaned using a figure 8 motion.
  7. Allow the solution to dwell for 3 to 5 minutes.
  8. Using a clean wet mop and a bucket of clean water, apply a rinse to the floor and pick up with the mop head or wet vacuum.  Change the rinse water when it becomes soiled.
  9. Clean all equipment and return to storage area.

Professional Maintenance Tips:
  • Always wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Use cool water when diluting products.
  • Always add cleaner to water. Never water to cleaner.
  • Use caution signs as floor surface may become extremely slippery.
  • Use both sides of the mop.  Turn the mop over, keep mop on the floor and gently fold over to avoid splashing walls, baseboards, carpet, etc.
  • Change solution frequently.  Dirty solution cannot clean the floor.
